Abstract

All families come in different shapes and sizes, but they are all special when they love and respect each other. These rhyming stories are a celebration of the diversity of families and encourage inclusion and acceptance in a child's relationships.

By promoting diversity and understanding in family life and elsewhere, these stories support a positive approach to life at a young age, which fosters strong mental health and well-being. Each page is dedicated to a different family, with stories exploring adoption, fostering, disability, race, gender, and illness. Filled with humour and delightfully illustrated, children will love reading these stories with friends, family and in school again and again.

All You Need is Love is a gentle reminder that we are all special in our own way. Through celebrating our beautiful differences, we find compassion. And through loving with an open heart, we can make the world a better place for generations to come. I love this book very much indeed.

All You Need is Love offers a warm and light-hearted approach to looking at different families and circumstances. The material is sensitively handled in a straightforward way, and complimented by delightful illustrations and poems. This book will certainly help children who feel they may not 'fit in' to be reassured and to celebrate their own family.
Sarah Naish, author of The Therapeutic Parenting Books Series
This lovely book helps show that families like ours, are normal too. My husband has Huntingtons Disease, and it's part of our family life.

This excellent and engaging book celebrates families of all shapes and sizes. With a page to each story, intended to be read along with huge full colour fun illustrations, the up beat stories cover all types of modern (and post-modern) families and the ways in which our glorious LGBT community has given itself wholeheartedly to raising healthy, well-adjusted and diverse families. Recommended for younger readers and for anyone with children.

All You Need is Love is a resource that has been welcomed by primary school PSHE co-ordinators in Brighton & Hove as it offers enrichment to the current work they do on developing children's understanding of the range of families we are all part of. The rich diversity of families covered by this book and the engaging way they are described make it a 'must have' resource for Primary PSHE.
