Abstract

Esophageal diseases are among the most commonly seen disorders in the practice of internists, gastroenterologists, and surgeons around the world. This atlas provides clinically relevant information on the anatomy, physiology, and diseases of the esophagus. The book also features a detailed review of esophageal testing. This includes commonly employed methods such as endoscopy, barium testing, manometry, and pH monitoring, as well as newer modalities such as endoscopic ultrasound, impedence and Bravo pH testing. Both the diagnosis and treatment of common and uncommon manifestations of esophageal disorders are covered in-depth, with each disorder illustrated by representative images supported by succinct explanatory text.
