Abstract

This book Gastrointestinal Cancer Endoscopic Imaging and Treatment, highly distinguished group of physicians from Europe, USA, Australia and Asia have presented their state-of-the-art views on the topics related to clinical importance in this field along with a comprehensive discussion on the relevant issues. Authors focus on new and evolving concepts with regards to GI cancers. This book discusses the etiology, epidemiology, endoscopic diagnosis, use of endoscopic techniques, and the role of endoscopic interventions for all major GI cancers. This book cover endoscopic techniques, such as high-definition endoscopy, chromoendoscopy with or without magnification, as well as endoscopic optical techniques, such as narrow band imaging and confocal microscopy, allow us to obtain “realtime” biopsies of the GI tract. Accurate risk stratification of patients, i.e., identifying those at the highest risk for cancer would reduce the number of patients requiring surveillance and limited healthcare resources could then be focused to this group. Both risk stratification as well as our methods for diagnosing dysplasia and cancer could be enhanced leading to significant improvements in screening and surveillance programs. Finally, endoscopic techniques, including endoscopic mucosal resection and submucosal dissection, play a major role in the treatment of neoplastic lesions of the GI tract. This book covers more than 200 coloured images. It will provide clinicians a better and informed knowledge about the various approaches for the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of patients with premalignant and malignant diseases of the GI tract. The superb content of this book will be met with great enthusiasm by the gastrointestinal fraternity and is helpful in further raising the level of expertise in academic and clinical practice.
