Abstract

This book Community Medicine has been written based on the needs of medical, dental, nursing and para-medical students to give them a better understanding of community medicine which is a very vast subject. Create interest, enthuse and comprehend the subject very well. Great emphasis have been given to simple language, proper explanation, stepwise discussion. Climate change, Emerging epidemics of Chikungunya, Dengue, H1N1, Bird flu, SARS and HIV/AIDS have opened new challenges to health care systems on one side. On the other side, it is heartening to note that we are heading towards eliminations of Polio and Leprosy, almost near achievement of control of Guinea worm disease and eradication of smallpox. Advances in the field of information and communication technology have been harnessed to provide improvised health care to the marginalized through telemedicine and innovative endeavors. Mobile health care and modern health care delivery systems have helped the populations to access and avail the benefits of modern health care.
