Abstract

This is the 1st edition of the book Hepatic and Biliary Diseases: Anaesthesiologists’ Perspective. The text is comprehensive, updated as per the present day requirements in the subject of anaesthesiology. The book has 34 chapters. The first chapter deals with basic anatomy of liver and biliary tract. Subsequent three chapters are hepatic blood flow, functions of liver and biochemical evaluation of liver functions which provides a comprehensive description of liver and its functions with biochemical analysis in a user friendly language. A sound foundation of understanding of effects of anaesthetic drugs is provided in the next four chapters. Next 10 chapters describes different conditions affecting liver e.g. alcohol and liver, coagulopathies and liver diseases, hepatorenal syndrome. Chapter 22nd to 26th deal with anaesthesia for liver transplant and liver trauma along with perioperative care. Different syndromes and metabolic conditions are described in last 6 chapters. A comprehensive index is given at last.
