Abstract
Doody Rating : 3 stars : One of the participants observed that most of these meetings end up talking about hi-fi techniques and surgical accomplishments without much consideration towards the junior most surgeons. This book produce basic books on total knee replacement and total hip replacement. This volume addresses some of the most simple and basic concerns of young or young at heart learners of the skill of arthroplasty. Starting with an introduction, the history and evolution of hip replacement, the book goes on to talk about most aspects which a beginner would want to understand and many times find it difficult to question a senior surgeon for the fear of being ridiculed or embarrassed. The technique has been kept to the most simple demonstration and it is hoped that the learners would identify with the commentary. A chapter on complications has been added to make the readers aware and cautious keeping in mind that principle of “What the mind does not know, the eyes cannot see.” Last but not the least, a small write up on newer advances in hip arthroplasty should excite the readers to dig deep into the vast literature available on this topic. This book useful for postgraduate students, orthopedic surgeons and students of rural surgery.
